CHEFA in the Community: CSCU Receives CHEFA COVID-19 Grant

CHEFA awarded $350,000 to the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU System, comprised of 17 colleges and universities) as part of our FY 2021 CHEFA COVID-19 Grant Program. The grant will support a relief fund for students who were ineligible for CARES Act funds due to USDOE restrictions. 

CHEFA in the Community: Hartford Healthcare COVID-19 Mobile Testing Sites

CHEFA awarded $3M in June to organizations responding statewide to the COVID-19 pandemic. @HartfordHealthCare was awarded $400,000 to support mobile testing sites throughout Connecticut. CHEFA’s grant is making a significant impact by facilitating convenient testing at community sites for CT residents.

CHEFA Closes $25 million Transaction for Fairfield University

On September 10, 2020, CHEFA closed a $25 million transaction for Fairfield University.  Proceeds from the bonds will be used to construct a 75-bed residence hall for undergraduates, as well as fund various renovations for residence halls on campus. The bonds will also be used to fund equipment acquisition and installation.

CHEFA’s 2020 Grantmaking Continues Strong Commitment to CT Workforce with $1 million in Awards

In an effort to support workforce and economic development in the State of Connecticut, the Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA) made a major commitment to statewide workforce initiatives.  CHEFA’s Board of Directors met earlier this year and awarded FY 2020 Targeted Grants totaling $1 Million Dollars to four organizations.  The following entities and programs each received a grant in the amount of $250,000:

CHESLA Announces Lowest Student Loan Interest Rate in Program History

Hartford, CT, July 8, 2020 - The Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority (CHESLA) announced that its my CHESLA Student Loan will have a 4.85% fixed rate for the 2020-2021 academic year. The new student loan interest rate is 10 basis points lower than the previous program low of 4.95%.
