CHEFA Awards Close to $1M in FY 2024 Client Grants

November 20, 2023-The Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA) awarded close to $1 million in grants through its FY 2024 CHEFA John M. Biancamano Client Grant Program. The grants were primarily made in the education, healthcare, and childcare sectors. Grants were made for both program and capital expenditures.

The sixteen awards provide grants to entities throughout Connecticut. Betty Sugerman Weintraub, CHEFA Manager of Grant Programs and Philanthropic Outreach stated “CHEFA has made a significant investment primarily to the healthcare and education sectors with these grant awards. Twelve of our sixteen grant awards were made to hospitals or universities in our state that support the education and well-being of our fellow Connecticut residents. For over twenty years, CHEFA grants have provided vital support to Connecticut nonprofit organizations”.

Jeanette W. Weldon, CHEFA Executive Director said “These grants are focused on two key sectors that are driving the economic and workforce development of Connecticut. Medical innovations and workforce readiness are vital to our communities. CHEFA’s support of the nonprofit community through grants, tax-exempt bonds and loans, and other financing continues to provide resources to essential organizations that address the needs of Connecticut residents.”

CHEFA’s Board of Directors voted at their November 8th Board Meeting to award $997,762 representing a significant commitment to the nonprofit community. CHEFA’s Grant Program was established in 2002 and has provided more than $47 million dollars since inception to CT nonprofit organizations.
