From Capacity to Opportunity: How CHEFA’s Enterprise Capital Grants Create Lasting Impact

When nonprofit organizations have the right tools, they can grow, adapt, and reach the people who need them most. That belief is at the heart of CHEFA’s Enterprise Capital Grant Program, and it’s why CHEFA recently awarded a $382,000 Enterprise Capital Grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford.
Representing more than 76 percent of the total project budget, the grant supports a forward-looking initiative focused on strengthening individual giving, improving operational efficiency, and building the long-term sustainability needed to serve more young people in Stamford.
Rather than funding day-to-day operations or specific programs, CHEFA’s Enterprise Capital Grant is helping BGCS invest in systems and strategies that will reduce waitlists and expand access to programs that support education, leadership development, wellness, and career readiness — opening doors for more children and teens. Central to this effort is the implementation of MyClubHub, a donor engagement and management platform developed for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America network. The platform will streamline internal processes, enhance data-driven decision-making, and allow the Club to expand its donor base — extending support beyond Stamford and creating greater financial stability.
The impact builds on an already strong foundation. With a 95+-year history and more than 25,000 youth served, BGCS currently provides daily programming to more than 550 students across two locations. From swimming instruction and culinary training to college and career pathways, the organization has a proven track record of supporting working families and preparing young people for future success.
Designed to build capacity, resilience, and sustainability, CHEFA’s Enterprise Capital Grant Program supports nonprofits across Connecticut as they strengthen their operations and expand their impact — ultimately advancing the health, education, and well-being of communities statewide.
