Jeanette W. Weldon serves as the Executive Director of four quasi-public agencies. The Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA) is the parent organization and provides financial assistance to the state’s non-profit entities through its tax-exempt bond programs, loan programs, and grant programs. Ms. Weldon also serves as the Executive Director of each of CHEFA’s three subsidiaries: the Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority (CHESLA), offering student loans, refinance loans, need-based scholarships and financial literacy tools; the Connecticut Student Loan Foundation, a related student loan entity; and CHEFA Community Development Corporation, an entity created to offer New Markets Tax Credit financings to the state’s non-profits.
Ms. Weldon was appointed Executive Director of CHEFA as of July 1, 2015, after having served as Managing Director of CHEFA since March 2009. She assumed responsibility for CHEFA subsidiaries as they were added or created under the CHEFA umbrella. Ms. Weldon has previous experience as a credit analyst with Moody’s Investors Service, an investment banker with Bank of Boston, a financial advisor with P.G. Corbin & Company, and as Chief Financial Officer and Interim Chief Executive Officer of Windham Hospital. Ms. Weldon serves as a volunteer board member of Northeast Women in Public Finance, a non-profit professional organization for women in the public finance field.Ms. Weldon received a B.A. from Harvard University, and an M.B.A. in finance and M.P.H. in healthcare administration from Columbia University.
